Ohio FFA State Convention
On Thursday, May 5th, students along with adviser Emily Williams and parent volunteer Matt Marker from the Ansonia FFA chapter left Ansonia High School at 6:00 a.m. to attend the 88th Ohio FFA Convention at the Ohio Expo Center in Columbus, Ohio. The group of 13 students included Freshmen Sam Rhoades and Aleesha Gates, Sophomores Cierra Longenecker, Amber Bergman, Katie Werts, Katelyn McKenna, Mark Mayo and Max Wardrip, Juniors Skyler Marker and Robert Christman, and Seniors Megan Bergman, Nick Mayo and Maddie Evers. After stopping for donuts on Thursday morning, the group headed to the Expo Center to check out the various booths about different parts of the FFA. From there they went to the Polaris Mall to enjoy some shopping and lunch in the food court. The group then went on a tour of the Ohio Wildlife Rehabilitation Center and took a hike through the trails. After breakfast on Friday, May 6th, the members attended the 3rd session in order for Robert Christman to receive his proficiency award in Nursery Operations. At the fourth session, previous secretary Amber Bergman and previous reporter Maddie Evers will receive Officer Awards for the amazing books they turned in months before. Also getting to listen to keynote speaker, Sydney Snider. While waiting on the fifth session to begin, the group visited Grater’s Ice Cream to enjoy an amazing treat and spend some quality time together. After putting every ounce of their heart and soul into the FFA and always striving to improve their supervised agricultural experience or SAE, Megan Bergman, Nick Mayo and John Fischer received their State Degrees at the fifth and final session of the convention.
