Ansonia FFA Members Compete at Speaking Contest
On February 10, 2015 three Ansonia FFA members along with the two advisors, Mr. Brad Lentz and Ms. Jen Knick, traveled to Brookville to compete in the County Public Speaking contest. Andrea Barga competed in the Extemporaneous category. In this category, contestants brought their own information, randomly drew a topic, and then had 30 minutes to write a speech. Amber Bergman participated in the Creed Speaking Contest where they had to recite the FFA Creed and answer questions from the judges. Skyler Marker participated in Beginning Prepared. In this category she had to recite a 5-7 minute memorized speech to the judges. Andrea placed second in her category and Amber placed third in hers, allowing them both to move on to the district contest. Amber and Andrea both received gold and Skyler received a silver rating. At the district contest on February 17, Andrea and Amber both received gold ratings and Amber placed second, allowing her to move on to the State contest on March 7, where she placed eighth in her room. Congratulations to all who participated in this event!
