Ansonia FFA Spreads Holiday Cheer
During the Holiday Season the Ansonia FFA worked hard to spread cheer, and help those who might need it. Several activities were established to help get all members involved in their community; events such as a present wrap, Toys for Tots, and a fruit donation were organized for both the Ansonia FFA’s and the community’s benefit.
During the month of December, Toys for Tots bins were placed around the school by the Ansonia FFA. Kids were then encouraged to donate gently used or new toys for the less fortunate. The Ansonia FFA helped donate Toys for Tots to help the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, who organize this event, with their main goal which is, “to send a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters that will assist them in becoming responsible, productive, patriotic citizens.”
Another event that the Ansonia FFA held to bring happiness to the community was donating their extra fruit from their recent fruit sale to food pantries of the local community. While conducting this donation, fruit was donated to Food Banks, Nursing Homes, and local companies. Lastly four cases were donated to the Elementary Food Program
Then on December 14th, the Ansonia FFA teamed up with the Union City Courts to really embrace the topic of community service by holding a Christmas present wrap. Before their Leadership Night, members of this chapter were given the opportunity to serve their community by wrapping presents for less fortunate children. Many members found it appalling that the presents in which were wrapped might be the only ones that these children would find under their Christmas tree this year, so each present was not just sent with pretty wrappings but also love.
Through all of these events the Ansonia FFA learned the importance of their actions and generosity. All their hard work showed this, and their team effort not only provided cheer for others, but it also helped create unity throughout these FFA members.
