Ansonia FFA has busy Summer
Over the course of the summer, Ansonia FFA members were involved in many events around the county. Chapter members stated off the summer by holding a petting zoo at the Rossburg Ice Cream Social on June1st. FFA members brought in animals for community members to view, hold, and pet. Animals included in the petting zoo were lambs, goats, and rabbits. Members present at the event were Stefani Garrett, Megan Bergman, Andrea Barga, Amber Bergman and advisor Jennifer Knick. Special thanks go to advisor Jennifer Knick for supplying the fencing and the Rossburg Fire Department for inviting the Ansonia FFA to coordinate this event. To continue on with the busy summer schedule, Ansonia FFA officers traveled to Ft. Loramie on June 4-5 to camp and bond as an officer team. While together the officers set goals for the upcoming year and participated in many fun activities that helped officers bond as a team. On June 26, the Ansonia FFA held its annual Blood Drive Grudge Match between the Ansonia FFA and Mississinawa Valley FFA chapters. We would like to thank all who participated in this event! The next blood drive will be on October 23rd at Ansonia High School. Continuing on with the summer, FFA members traveled to the Shelby County Fair to assist the hurdlers with the Jr. Fair hog show on July 23. Along with the advisors, Brad Lentz and Jen Knick, helpers were , Andrea Barga, Megan Bergman, Lydia Sink, Heath Barga, Tucker DG, and Robert Christman. Thank you to all that helped out! During Annie Oakley Days, Ansonia FFA members held a petting zoo from July 25-27. Animals included in this event were lambs, goats, miniature donkeys, rabbits, and pigs. Members present at this event were Taylor Bergman, Megan Bergman, Andrea Barga, Evan Burns, Amber Bergman, Elissa Bennett, and advisor Jennifer Knick. Special thanks to Annie Oakley Day’s committee for inviting the Ansonia FFA to coordinate this event. The Ansonia FFA Chapter held their annual summer picnic Tuesday, August 12. Hamburgers and hotdogs were served and members got a chance to play corn hole and other games while catching up on summer talk. To complete the Ansonia FFA’s busy summer, officers put together a fair booth with the theme of “Ansonia FFA thinks outside the barn.” Members brought in shop and crop entries along with livestock projects to be judged at the county fair. Member s also participated in livestock judging contest at the fair. Members that participated were Nick Mayo, Andrea Barga, Megan Bergman, Andrea Barga, John Fischer, Molly Walters, and Tyler Greer. The team place third. Overall, summer 2014 was a very successful summer for the Ansonia FFA.
