Ansonia FFA Hatches Chicks
During the month of May, the Ansonia FFA’s Animal Science and Technology class hatched baby chicks. Students and teachers with fertilized eggs and incubators brought them in for the classes to use. Students carefully watched the eggs’ progress over the 21 days in the incubators by candling the eggs. Out of the 4 dozen eggs 35 chicks hatched. The class learned about different breads of chickens as well as properly caring for the chicks by providing them with a clean environment, proper food, appropriate temperature, and clean water.
