Participants eagerly await their scores after participating in the Livestock Judging CDE at Wilmington College.
Livestock Judging
On March 2nd the Ansonia FFA members went to participate in a Livestock Judging Contest at Wilmington College. Members who attended included Cierra Longenecker, Tyler Greer, Sam Rhodes, Nick Mayo, Sarah Rhodes, Amber Bergman, Aric Barga, Brianna Fergerson, Christina Smith, Chelsea Noggler, Skyler Marker, Megan Bergman, Darrell Fox, Maggi Shrock, and Mackenzie Zumbrun. All of our students put their best effort into this Career Development Event, CDE, and we think that all our members did a fairly good job during their participation. Out of 773 participants in the General Livestock Judging Megan Bergman received 3rd place, Amber Bergman received 44th place, Chelsea Noggler received 99th place, Tyler Greer received 146th place, Cierra Longenecker received 156th place, Skyler Marker received 302nd place, Aric Barga received 320th place, Nick Mayo received 409th place, and Brianna Fergerson received 670th place. In the Dairy Cattle judging portion Sarah Rhodes placed 14th and Sam Rhodes placed 51st out of 120 contestants. During the Equine Judging contest, Christina Smith placed 59th, Mackenzie Zumbrun placed 108th, Maggi Shrock placed 225th, and Darrell Fox placed 226th out of 228 participants. The Ansonia FFA General Livestock Judging team placed 5th as a whole out of 68 other school’s teams, the Equine Judging Ansonia team placed 31st out of 63 other registered schools, and the Dairy Cattle Judging team received 23rd out of 32 participating schools.
On March 19th, the Ansonia FFA livestock participants went on to the Mercer County Invitational General Livestock CDE. Megan Bergman placed 1st, Amber Bergman placed 5th, Skyler Marker placed 141st, and Aric Barga placed 146th out of 230 participants. During the Dairy Cattle Judging CDE, Sarah Rhoades placed 6th and Sam Rhoades placed 45th out of 115 participants. In the Equine Judging CDE Christina Smith received 52nd out of 100 participants. As a whole in the General Livestock Judging CDE, the Ansonia FFA received 7th out 41 teams. Then in Equine our little team placed 26th out of 32 other schools, and in the Dairy Cattle Judging CDE the Ansonia team placed 19th out of 31 teams. These teams will now go on to the State General Livestock Judging CDE in the near future.
